Veronika Kabalina

Professor Veronika Kabalina is currently on the Faculty of Management of Russia’s  National Research University Higher School of Economics.  She heads the Department of Human Resources Management, which includes the business ethics curriculum.  She is also Director of the Institute for Comparative Labour Relations Studies (ISITO). 


Her background is exceptionally broad, and includes experience in the private sector, government, social policy and labor relations, sociological research.


She was employed for eight years at a major Russian company, Mining and Metallurgical Company “Norilsk Nickel”, as head of the Human Resources Management Department.


Professor Kabalina has done extensive social policy and labor relations research and held leadership positions with many organizations, including Warwick University, United Kingdom, Center for Comparative Labour Studies; Kennan Institute for Advanced Russian Studies, Woodrow Wilson Center for International Scholars; Institute of World Economy and International Relations, Russian Academy of Sciences, Institute of Employment Studies, Russian Academy of Sciences and RF Ministry of Labour; multiple World Bank, USAID, Economic and Social Research Council (ESRC), and corporate foundation-funded projects.  Her research has been published in more than 100 Russian and international publications. 

She holds a PhD (History) from the Russian Academy of Science, 1988 and a Diploma with distinction from Moscow State University, Faculty of Economics, World Economy Department, 1978.  She has also taken advanced courses on multivariate statistical analysis at Stanford University in California.
