Director The Russian Institute of Directors (Moscow) held a six day training course in Saint Petersburg Renaissance Baltic Hotel from March 14-19, 2005. The Russian Institute of Directors (Moscow) developed this special course on the standards and practices of corporate governance for members of the Board and top-managers. Representatives from more than 100 companies in the Russian Federation, including Tatneft’, Norilsky Nikel’, Rostelekom, Svyazinvest, KAMAZ, Lenenergo, Kirovskii Zavod, LOMO, NPO Komsomol’skoi Pravdy, have already continued their education during the course and received certificates, which give them the right to be added to the National Register of Corporate Directors. The course “Corporate Director” brought to light a variety of issues, such as: the foundations of corporate governance, organizing work for the Board of Directors, organizing activities for executive organs in holding structures, defending business from hostile takeovers and corporate blackmail, providing financial information for the Board of Directors, and other important topics. The Center for Business Ethics and Corporate Governance is currently organizing a conference in Saint Petersburg for the second time. In May 2004, twelve companies, participants in the Center’s project, successfully completed the course program. Company representatives gave the course high marks. Sections of the Course: • The foundations of corporate governance • The organization of work for the Board of Directors • Disclosure of information about the company in the work of the Board • Financial information in the work the Board • Organization of activities for executive offices of economic companies. The institute of governing companies. Holding companies. • Defending businesses from hostile takeovers and corporate blackmail. At the end of the course participants received a RID certificate, which gives the right to be added to the National Register of Directors.
